The Unicorn Hunt

The Legend of the Unicorn says that the unicorn was hunted for his horn. It was magical and could purify water and cure poison and made all natural things around it grow abundantly.

It was also said that the unicorn was fierce and unpredictable, a capable fighter and able to heal itself with it's horn if wounded not to death. Many a hunt, it's horn was stained black at the base and red at the tip from the fresh and drying blood of those who would dare try to take it's horn.

But, it had a weakness; a fatal flaw. If there sat quietly, a pure maiden, the unicorn could not help himself, he would approach and ever so gently lay his head in her lap. While in this state, he would not defend himself and a hunter could come up and kill the beast with no danger to himself, striking off the rare and valuable horn, as his trophy.

The pure light of the unicorn would be extinguished, as its horn was stolen to be ground into powder to heal kings or made into elaborate wands to detect and cure poisons in a queen's cup.

But, this time, the maiden is not the one the hunter left tied as bait. This time, the unicorn lay docile as a ruse. The Dryad would not allow the noble unicorn to suffer such a fate, magic was already becoming rarer in her world.

The dark-hearted Hunter will have a surprise that neither he nor his dogs will likely survive.
